About the Artist
Artist with vision
Preethi Mathialagan is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores emotional architecture within human systems. Through large-scale compositions, layered color, and controlled disruption, her paintings examine how perception, identity, value, and presence interact within space.
With over twelve years of professional practice along with a background in Telecommunications Engineering, IT professional roles and research-based problem solving, Preethi has developed a distinct visual language rooted with intuition and structural awareness. Her process is immersive and deliberate — balancing expressive movement with compositional discipline. Each canvas evolves through tension and recalibration, transforming raw energy into grounded visual form.
Music plays a quiet but influential role in her studio practice. Rhythm, tonal contrast, and progression inform the movement of her brush and knife, allowing sound to translate into spatial flow. Similarly, her deep sensitivity to color — inspired by natural harmonies found in oceans, skies, birds in motion and soroundings — guides the emotional temperature of each work.
While her paintings do not depict literal narratives, they are informed by observation. Preethi studies the subtle systems that shape human experience — validation, belonging, silence, recognition, awareness — and translates those dynamics into abstraction. The result is work that feels bold yet composed, expressive yet architecturally anchored.
Created primarily for modern interiors, her large-scale pieces are designed to function as visual centerpieces — not decorative accents. They bring depth, energy, and presence to a room while allowing space for personal interpretation.
Her work has been collected by private collectors across the United States and internationally, and has appeared in museum exhibitions, juried shows, and media features.
Working from her Texas-based studio, Preethi continues to expand her practice through a focused and immersive approach to abstraction. Her work is created to live within spaces — offering visual energy, emotional resonance, and a lasting sense of balance.
